    A warp-faced compound tabby in alternating maroon,light brown and blue, this textile also uses a framework of hill-shaped cloud patterns filled with different foliage designs. Silk textiles with similar designs have been found among tomb excavations in Astana, Turfan, Xinjiang. What make this piece special are the two remaining ends of selvage that allow us to measure and determine the width of the fabric, which is 36cm. This information is very helpful in understanding weaving equipment and technology at that time.(XZ)
