1. Internal Departments
(1) Office Department
The Office Department takes charge of all areas of NSM’s administration, including fund-raising activities, human resources, communications, government relations, legal affairs, and finance, as well as facilities management, security, and construction.
(2) Department of Exhibition and Conservation
Department of Exhibition and Conservation studies, preserves and conserves, exhibits, and cares for the works in the CNSM's collections.
(3) Technology Department
Technology Department studies, preserves and conserves, replicates works, does research projects, and offers textile conservation service.
(4) Education Department
Education Department is in charge of all social education and publication affairs of CNSM, making learning about silkworm, silk, and related tangible and intangible culture heritage enjoyable and intellectually stimulating through a wide array of programs for all audiences.

2. Affiliated units
(1) Key Scientific Research Base of Textile Conservation, SACH
Key Scientific Research Base of Textile Conservation was approved to establish by State Administration of Cultural Heritage in October 2010, for textile conservation research. There are four core areas, including analyzing and testing lab, protection technology lab, conservation technology lab, and traditional technology lab.
(2) Chinese Center for Textile Identification and Conservation(CCTIC)
Chinese Center for Textile Identification and Conservation(CCTIC)is authorized by State Administration of Cultural Heritage, established on October 20, 2000, in CNSM. There are research areas for identification, cleaning and disinfection, conservation and replication, and dyeing and weaving of unearthed and handed-down textile over the nation. It also provides relevant information and personnel training.
(3) NSM Academy Committee
NSM Academy Committee is the highest academic institution of CNSM, aiming to strengthen the academic ability in silk culture, collection research and conservation, exhibition, intangible culture heritage conservation, etc. areas, and increase academic exchanges home and abroad.
