Qing Dynasty (1644-1911 A.D.)
H45cm; W62 cm
The belly apron was used traditionally as underwear for females. Early examples were found in Song dynasty tombs. They are however still popular today. This item has embroidery on red satin material depicting the scene of a couple returning home. The less than extravagant silver chain indicates that this belly apron belonged to a female of a working class family. (XY)
