The ancient Silk Road was not only a prosperous trade route for silk, but acted like a ribbon linking the ancient China and other countries of the world together, mainly Southwest Asia and the Persian Gulf region. A large number of Arab traders, especially from the Tang and Song dynasties, had started to come to China via the Maritime Silk Road directly to purchase raw silk, silk fabrics, lacquer, Jadeite, spices, and other commodities. When returning to their own countries, they not only brought back those products, but also the ancient oriental culture and civilization they had heard and seen in Asia. Thus, silk was one of the main factors of that period for cross-cultural communication. In modern times, new art with silk factor becomes an important element to express the modern spiritual world, leading to a revitalization ofthe ancient "Silk Road".
This exhibition includes three parts, namely Mysterious Silk and Heavenly Loom, Silk of Road and Bring Silk to the Present, to show the process that Chinese silk has experienced since ancient times.
