Fro m November 24 to 25, 2020, the 1st International Symposium on Silk an d Silk Roads Research “Textile Dialogue on the Silk Road” was gran dly held at Zhejiang Sci-Tech University, hosted by Zhejiang Sci-Tech University, undertaken by the International Institute of Silk, International Silk an d Silk Road Research Center, an d co-organized by the China National Silk Museum.

More than 20 experts an d scholars fro m UNESCO, Royal Danish Academy of Sciences an d Letters, American Textile Pattern Research Foundation, Freer Art Museum, University of London, Oxford University, an d Zhejiang Sci-Tech University, China National Silk Museum, Zhejiang University, Donghua University, etc. attended the conference an d delivered 18 reports. More than 80 teachers an d students attended the symposium, while more than 4,000 people fr om the University of Cambridge, the British Museum an d Israel's National Antiquities Authority watched the conference live online. The opening ceremony was presided over by Professor ZHU Chengyan, Secretary of the Party Committee an d vice president of College of Textile Science an d Engineering (International Silk College) of Zhejiang Sci-Tech University.

Through the holding of this conference, Chinese an d foreign experts in various research fields gathered in the cloud, which promoted academic exchanges an d project cooperation among researchers in traditional silk techniques an d cultural exchanges, an d provided new ideas for silk roads an d silk roads research. It provides new ways for the training of talents in the domestic silk industry, consolidates international resources for the further development of the International Silk Institute, an d provides broader academic assistance. At the same time, it is of great significance to expan d the college’s international academic influence.
