Silks from the Silk Road: Origin, Transmission and Exchange Symposium

I. Description
In June 2014, the Silk Roads: the Routes Network of Chang'an-Tianshan Corridor jointly nominated by China, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan was inscribed on the World Heritage List, making the ancient Silk Road a common wealth of human beings.
Parallel to the cognominal exhibition, held at the China National Silk Museum from Sept. 15th to Oct. 15th, 2015, which include masterpiece ancient silk textiles and other treasures related to the Silk Road from 24 Chinese museums and archaeological institutions of eight provinces, the symposium will present the following six sections:

III. Speakers and Language:
About 40 expertsin the fields of silk archaeology, conservation and research from both insideand outside China have been arranged to speak in the symposium, please refer to the attachment for their detailed information and topics of their presentations. And English will be the working language, Chinese presentations will be simultaneously translated into English.

VI.Post-symposium Program:
A visit to major cities and sites along the Chinese section of the Silk Road, such as Xi’an,Lanzhou, Dunhuang, Urumqi and Turfan will be arranged after the symposium forthe speakers and participants. The visit will last about eight days (Oct. 15th toOct. 22th, 2015), and we'll arrange the guests to see precious textile collections and magnificent Silk Road sites in these places. The cost of the visit is to be borne by the participants themselves, and further information concerning the visit, including the budget and itinerary will be announced later. Due to the character of the visit, a maximum of 30 participants will be accepted.
