October 4th, National SilkMuseum hosted Evening of Bustle. The event is one of the series activities related to the special exhibition entitled Glory on Silk: French Textiles (1700 to the Present) as well as the last Evening in National Silk Museum series in 2017.
6:30 p.m., Irene Lu, assistant curator of the exhibiton made a guide tour for the guests to make a better understanding of French silk culture.
7:00 p.m, the event started officially with movie clips of Marie Antoinette(2006). Bao Mingxin, professor of Donghua Unerversity, and Song Yang, Associate Professor of Beijing Institute of Clothing Technology made brief introductions about Bustle-style clothes. (In the afternoon they gave lectures on this topic with deeper insight as well).
The most attracting part was a fashion show of restoring Bustle-style clothes began. The show was made with cooperation of NSM and Donghua Unerversity Fashion and Design College. The inspiration came from pannier, combined with menswear.
Court dance and music performance were also performed in the event.
