The 5th Symposium of IASSRT (International Association for the Study of Silk Road Textiles), themed with "Textiles on the Silk Roads: fr om Medieval to Industrial Periods," is eventually co-hosted in Trento an d Hangzhou online fr om November 15th to 16th, 2021 due to the long-term epidemic.
Co-organized by Centro Studi Martino Martini, University of Trento in Italy an d China National Silk Museum (NSM) this symposium, now in its 5th year, invites international scholars who will give lecture series fr om the four sections of Early Period of Silk Roads, Textile in Italy an d Europe, Traditional Techniques, an d Maritime Silk Road.
Besides being a communication platform an d academic exchanges, this symposium serves as an exceptional opportunity to also explore the use of textiles in diplomatic relationships among regions an d various social groups or institutions, the transmissions an d influences of textile patterns, techniques, an d meanings between East an d West, the textile traditions an d innovations along the Silk Roads, an d the global rise of silk industries as an outcome of Silk Roads interactions.
