On July 23th, the 2018 “Sinology and Contemporary China” symposium which was co-hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and was organized by Chinese and Foreign Culture Exchange Center, opened in Beijing. On the 27th, the China National Silk Museum welcomed the guests who attended this symposium.
Under a wonderful tour, 28 sinologists, experts on China study and think-tank scholars, who came from Europe (UK, France, Germany, Russia, the Netherlands, Albania, Montenegro, Serbia and Romania), America (the United States, Canada, Mexico, Argentina and Brazil), Asia (India, Bangladesh, Georgia, South Korea, Nepal, Kazakhstan), Africa (Egypt, Ethiopia, Burundi) and Oceania (New Zealand), visited “The Way of Chinese Silk: Silk History and the Silk Road” exhibition, “Sericulture and Silk Craftsmanship in China” exhibition, “An Evolution of Fashion: Chinese Costume” exhibition and “A World of Looms: Weaving Technology and Textile Arts in China and Beyond” exhibition.
Since 2013, “Sinology and contemporary China” symposium has held six sessions, totally invited 150 influential sinologists and scholars from 56 countries to set up a professional academic exchange and information communication platform for researchers and think-tank experts from all over the world, to promote high-end ideological exchanges and cooperation and improve the international research level of studies in China. At this symposium, well-known Chinese and foreign experts and scholars conducted in-depth communication on the theme of “40 Years of Reform and Opening-up -- China and the World”. From July 25th to 27th, sinologists came to Zhejiang for investigation.
