As early as 17-18 centuries, a new fashion in Europe that contains Oriental style of art and fashion has emerged when the East encountered the West, which is called “Chinese Style” or “Chinoiserie”. It has a history over 100 years, blending into the Baroque and Rococo styles for the luxury life of European upper-class with an exotic atmosphere.
        On the afternoon of June 13, Mei Mei, PhD of the Bard Graduate Center & independent curator, makes a speech “Chinese Garments in Western Fashion and Art during the Late 19th and Early 20th Centuries” at Education Center, CNSM, displaying her study on features of Chinese garments made in Europe.
