Opening Ceremony of “Newborn: 2013 Fashion Retrospective” in CNSM(2013-12-06)

On the afternoon of Dec. 6, 2013, an opening ceremony of a special exhibition entitled “Newborn: 2013 Fashion Retrospective” is held at CNSM. This exhibition, hosted by China Fashion Association and China Textiles Development Center, and organized by China National Silk Museum, makes a retrospective of the Chinese fashion in the year of 2013, capturing the sparks in the textile and garment world.

There displays many great pieces designed by masters and up-and-coming youngsters, and several hand-woven works from the public. On the opening ceremony, dancers from Hangzhou Song & Dance Theater make a dancing show, featuring in the unique artistic charm of silk.

Since 2011, CNSM has collected Chinese modern fabrics and costumes, in an attempt to “Collect today for tomorrow.” Some of the newest collections of these items will be exhibited at the end of the each year, along with a professional forum. Under the immense help of designers, companies, universities, related associations, and industry bases, the Fashion Retrospective of 2011 and 2012 were both held successfully. The collection holds about 2,000 pieces, most of which are Golden Award winners, top three pieces of the Annual Hempel Award, outstanding graduating works, fabrics from outstanding brands, etc.

“Chinese Dream” set sail in the year of 2013, with full passion into various creative fields of China, as well as the world of fashion. Capturing attention around the world, Chinese fashion, with its excellent designers and companies, is finding its voice. Creation and re-creation refer to the new opportunities and new delightfulness of the changing culture. In 2013, new fields of works will be included, the exhibition will be diversified, and more related activities will be held.
