On the afternoon of Jan. 20, an exhibition preparatory meeting of on Sogdian art which Arthur M. Sackler Gallery and Freer Gallery of Art is curating is held at CNSM, attended by international scholars from USA, UK, Germany, Russia, etc., and Chinese scholars from Peking university, Shanxi Provincial Institute of Archaeology, Ningxia Provincial Institute of Archaeology, Xi’an Municipal Bureau of Cultural Relics and Archaeology, Institute for World Religion, CASS, Academy of Art & Design, Tsinghua University, etc. It has gathered several experts in this field together, such as Julian Raby, Arthur M. Sackler Gallery and Freer Gallery of Art, Nicholas Sims-Williams mastering in ancient languages like old Iranian language, Tocharian and Sogdian, Pavel Lurje, LIN Meicun, RONG Xinjiang, SHANG Gang, LUO Feng, ZHANG Qingjie, ZHANG Zong, ZHAO Feng, and so forth.
    As part of the meeting, ZHAO Feng, director of CNSM, takes participates visiting Gallery of “The Story of Chinese Silk”, Gallery of “Living in Silk”, Gallery of “Sericulture and Silk Craftsmanship in China”, and exhibition of “Thousands of Thread and Hundreds of Patchwork: Study and Conservation of Unearthed Textiles from Mogao Grottoes”, while scholars showing great interests in.
